Handmade bomb recovered at Zamira, Hailakandi; Assam Rifes calls bomb squad
Ahead of Independence Day, Hailakandi Police on Monday recovered a hand-made bomb from South Hailakandi’s Jamira Village. Reportedly, the bomb was recovered from a resident Jamal Uddin’s house.
It was learnt that on Monday morning, Jamal Uddin noticed that some object was tied at his residence’s fencing. Finding it suspicious he immediately called his neighbours and also intimated the police. Police along with Assam Rifles jawans rushed to the spot and recovered the bomb. Later it was taken to a safe place. A bomb squad team of the Assam Rifles will be visiting tomorrow and will be investigating the matter further.
Meanwhile, the Hailakandi Administration has imposed prohibitory order under sec 144 of CrPC in the district, finding that there are some antisocial elements/groups or organisations who are likely to disturb the peaceful situation in the district.
“I, Smti Keerti Jalli, IAS, District Magistrate, Hailakandi district in exercise of power conferred upon me under section 144 of CrPC, 1973 do hereby prohibit all kinds of procession/ rally/ dharna/ demonstration/ strike blockade/ large public gathering etc under Hailakandi district and indulging in any such activity that may disturb the peace and tranquillity to common public” read the order.
