Have never seen a 'betrayer' like Modi: Sushmita Dev
“Many have become Prime Ministers in India, but I have never seen a betrayer and loudmouth like Narendra Modi,” said All India Mahila Congress president and Silchar MP Sushmita Dev on Friday.
Dev, who was speaking at a party workers’ programme at Topkhana gaon panchayat in Cachar district on Friday evening, said Modi had promised the masses that two crore jobs would be provided every year if the BJP came to power, but the promise was not fulfilled. In fact, not even five lakh people got jobs in the past five years, she claimed.
Coming down heavily on Modi, she said the Prime Minister had during his campaign trail at Ramnagar in 2014 announced before the common people that detention camps would be demolished if the BJP came to power, however nothing happened till date. Modi had also given assurances in the past about reviving the defunct Cachar Paper Mill, but is rather planning to sell it off to his industrialist friend of Gujarat, she alleged.
Talking about the Pulwama attack, Dev said over 40 CRPF jawans were killed in a terror attack at Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir recently, but the Prime Minister did not even express sorrow over the incident, she alleged. “Modi government has pushed the country in a troublesome situation. China is attacking on one side and Pakistan on the other,” she said.
About the newly built bridge over the river Barak at Sadarghat in Silchar (which is scheduled to be inaugurated by Assam PWD minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday), she said the foundation stone for the bridge was laid down by former chief minister Tarun Gogoi and the project was sanctioned by the Congress government. “Is Sarma not even ashamed of coming to Silchar to inaugurate the bridge,” she questioned.
Dev said the government would serve a platter of promises once again to woo voters before the upcoming elections and urged the masses to not fall prey to that. Among other Congress workers, Silchar block Congress president Manjur Ahmed Choudhury, Topkhana GP president Miya Khan, Topkhana GP former president Ruksana Begum Khan and Azim Uddin Khan were present.
