Head-on collision between Traveller and tuk-tuk injures several in Hailakandi, passengers rushed to SMCH and SK Roy Civil Hospital
A head-on collision between an e-rickshaw and a light commercial vehicle Traveller injured several passengers of the Traveller. According to the locals there, the e-rickshaw was in an argument with another petrol auto-rickshaw and both vehicles were stopped at the side of the road. When the Traveller vehicle approached the spot, it lost control and that was when the accident happened. This incident happened on the outskirts of Hailakandi town.
The e-rickshaw tuk-tuk was heading from Hailakandi town and the Traveller came from the opposite side. The speeding Traveller lost control and went straight into a head-on collision with the e-rickshaw. It then lost its control and went straight into a ditch on the side of the road. The Traveller had many passengers inside it and so did the tuk-tuk.
Several passengers in both vehicles were injured in this accident. In this, the three passengers of the tuk-tuk were severely injured and has been rushed to the Silchar Medical College and Hospital. Many passengers of the Traveller were also injured and so far there has been no headcount into this. According to a local there, the passengers stuck inside the bus vehicle were helped to come out by the locals and the injured were sent to the Hailakandi Civil Hospital.
Later with the police intervention, the Traveller was pulled out of the ditch with the help of a JCB bulldozer. The Traveller vehicle with registration number AS 11 BC 9474 was taken into police custody, in deplorable condition.
