House-help steals jewelry from ‘Sen Villa’ in Link Road, admits crime to Police

Yet another case of house-help (maid) stealing valuables from the house she was employed at. Just last week retired SBI officer, Ambicapatty resident, Arabinda Bhadra and his wife was poisoned by their maid. Yesterday, retired National Institute of Technology employee Shanti Sen learned that her jewelry kept in a bag which was locked in the wardrobe is missing.

‘Sen Villa’ is a very busy residential building located in Link Road, Silchar. Yesterday, when the Sen family realised that four Gold rings and a pair of diamond earrings are missing from the bag they started looking for it. When they could not find it anywhere, they asked the maid if she is aware about the valuables to which the maid denied confidently and went on with her work as if nothing happened.

The family informed Rangirkhari Police about the incident and officials today visited Sen Villa and interrogated the maid. Identified as Saraswati Das, the maid is the wife of Subodh Chandra Das a resident of Bishfuti area in Ashram Road.

“After she admitted the fact that she has stolen the jewelry, Police took her to her resident from where they recovered all the valuable,” informed Anuradha Debangshu Dutta, daughter of Shanti Sen.

She, publicly thanked Rangirkhari Police for their prompt action. On a Facebook post, she warned the people of Silchar to not appoint the lady as their house help. The post read, “Thanks to Rangirkhari Police Outpost for their prompt action and quick recovery. Please be careful everyone, don’t keep her in your home, don’t give her a chance to loot you off your belongings.”
