Houses of Silchar, Karimganj and Hailakandi to get gas pipeline within next 3 years
Good news for the people of Barak Valley, gas pipeline to reach houses within next 3 years. Oil India Limited director Utpal Bora made the announcement yesterday.
In the first phase along with Guwahati three cities of Barak Valley will be covered. Silchar Karimganj and Hailakandi are the three cities where pipeline work will begin soon. Director Bora announced in a Press Conference that the authority has already issued an invitation to tender to hand over the responsibility of executing the door to door gas pipeline plan. He also informed that Oil India Limited, Gas Authority of India Limited and Assam Gas Company will together form a joint venture which will submit tender to acquire the contract of this massive pipeline project. He is hopeful that the joint venture will successfully meet all the requirements and manage to acquire the rights of this project. As a part of this project Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) station will be built in the pre-decided cities.
Within next 3 years Guwahati along with other North Eastern states will get associated with the national gas grid, announced director Bora.
Once this project is completed gas flow will be available on 24 hours and the gas connection will have a metre box exactly how one is installed every in every house that has an electric connection. One will only pay as much as he or she consumes. Bora firmly believes that this will save home-runners some money and time. People of Barak Valley will not have to run here and there in search of an LPG cylinder.
