HSLC Mathematics question paper goes viral during exam in Cachar, student detained for cheating attempt
Within fifteen minutes after the HSLC exam started today, the Mathematics question paper went viral in Cachar causing chaos and prompting an investigation. Cachar SP Numal Mahatta visited the Dolugram Union High School and conducted a search. The police officials seized around 50 mobile phones of invigilators and students from the common room of the school.
The Cachar DC, SP, and Inspector of Schools conducted probes in various examination centres of Lakhipur to unveil the source of the leak. They identified a student, Ashid Akbor Laskar, son of Ali Akbor Laskar, as the culprit. He was found with a mobile phone hidden in his shoe, which he used to click images of the question paper and share them with people outside to help him cheat.
Deputy commissioner of Cachar, Rohan Kumar Jha, confirmed that it was an attempt to cheat, but not a question paper leak, as the circulation happened after the examination had already started.
Speaking to our correspondent Cachar SP Numal Mahatta said, “We have detained Ashid Akbor Laskar from Union High School, Dolugram for questioning and the interrogation is on.”
The incident has raised concerns over the security of examination centres and the need for strict measures to prevent cheating.
