Edited Excerpts:
Swapnaneel Bhattacharjee, 10th in HSLCE 2018
“My elder sister missed securing a position in the merit list by a very narrow margin and since then I had this dream to make it in to the list. In the final stages, I used to study for nine hours a day. While studying, I always had one thing in my mind- whatever I am studying I must do it in a manner that it stays in my mind always. My elder sister supported and helped me throughout. My headmistress Lopamudra Choudhury always used to tell me that I would make it to the merit list. My sister is now studying MBBS in Silchar Medical College and I intend to appear for both Engineering and Medical entrances and if I manage to crack both, I will prefer Medical to Engineering. But first I want to study Higher Secondary really well, and then take a call on my future.”
Samujjal Das, senior section engineer (drawing) Indian Railways (a former rank-holder from Karimganj)
Heartiest congratulations to Swapnaneel on his stellar performance in HSLC examination 2018. My only advice to him would be to not loose focus and pursue what fascinates him the most and certainty not what random uncles and aunts want him to be. It is your life and not someone else’s laboratory for experimenting with unfulfilled ambitions. Enjoy the moment but try to get over the same early. Sorry for being a bit harsh even in my congratulatory message. I just want that no one make the same mistakes I once made. Best wishes for all your future endeavours.
Lopamudra Choudhury, headmistress, Babyland High School Karimganj
We expected him to get a better rank and really thought he would make it to top five. But nevertheless, we are really proud of him. Since he was in Class 1, we have been preparing for this day. He is a special talent; his IQ is his greatest strength. All you need to do is ask him and he will prepare it in minutes. Debates, quiz, reading books out of his syllabus, he was always at it all the time. This Children’s Day, he came to my office and asked me what do I write about. I asked him to write something on his experience in this institution and within minutes he prepared a gem of a piece that left everyone awestruck.
Sister Carron principal, Holy Cross School
112 appeared for the examinations this year out of which all 111 passed securing first division percentage and one scored second division. 17 students scored state highest (100) in general mathematics, three scored state highest in Advance mathematics (100) and one scored 100 marks in general science. 50 students passed with distinction and 35 scored star marks. I am very happy with the performance. Joydeep Das scored 96.5 per cent and missed the merit list by a little margin. Our students raked in 452 letter marks many of them got 100 on 100 in multiple subjects so overall its a good result and we are happy with it.
