In a sad turn of events, a 70-year-old man named Ashiwini Kumar Roy from Borkhola, Kumarpara, Noyagram Village lost his life due to a tragic accident. The incident occurred when a vehicle carrying illegal Burmese betel nuts collided with Mr. Roy as he was walking.

After the accident, locals promptly rushed the injured Mr. Roy to Silchar Medical College and Hospital, but unfortunately, he did not survive. The news of this unfortunate incident has deeply affected the Borkhola area.

Reports indicate that the Cachar Police were in pursuit of an Alto carrying illegal Burmese betel nuts. The vehicle, which lacked proper registration, was speeding on the road while being chased by the police.

In an attempt to escape from the authorities, the Alto, loaded with illegal betel nuts, collided with the pedestrian, 70-year-old Ashiwini Kumar Roy. This dangerous car chase between the police and the Alto resulted in the tragic death of Mr. Roy.

Following the accident, the police successfully got a hold onto the Alto and arrested its driver, identified as Kamrul Sheikh from Panchgram’s Katakhal area. Currently, the driver is in police custody, awaiting further legal proceedings.
