It is that time of the year when, “Abar Esho Maa” emotions lead to the ghats as the idols of Goddess Durga is immersed to the rivers marking an end to the Sharodutsav and beginning the anticipation for the following year.

Silchar’s primary immersion hub – the Bisarjan Ghat in Sadarghat has become busy since afternoon. During the day, idols from Residential Pujas are mostly immersed and as of 4:00 pm, as per the official sources, 63 sets of idols have been immersed today after 37 sets yesterday. The administration shared that 266 Sarbajanin Durga Puja Committees have sought permission to immerse idols today and then there are some committees who will proceed with immersion tomorrow.

Assam Police Personnel, CRPF, SDRF, NDRF Jawans have been deployed to ensure safe and secure Immersion process, informs Cachar SP while speaking with Barak Bulletin. “We have deployed personnel in the river and there are Police personnel deployed on the road to the Immersion Ghat as well,” says Cachar SP, Numal Mahatta.

This year, the administration is barring the entry of trucks loaded with sound boxes and DJ Systems at the Bisharjan Ghat in Sadarghat. Cachar SP informed that Instead of taking right towards the DC Office, the trucks are directed to head straight towards Capital Point and Trunk Road. “This step has been taken after thorough consultation with the Puja Committees. This is to ensure that traffic is under control at the Ghat and the decibel level in maintained,” asserts SP Numal Mahatta. Traditional Dhakis are allowed as usual.
