Indigo announces Silchar-Kolkata flights; to take off from September 20

Finally the day has arrived for which people of Barak Valley were waiting for a long time. Giving boost to the regional connectivity, budget carrier Indigo airlines has finally announced Silchar as its next destination. It will be Indigo’s 57th Domestic destination.
Indigo will start with two nonstop flights on Silchar-Kolkata route from 20 September, according to the airlines official website. Booking for the route are already open with one way fare starting at rupees 3667.
Flight number 6E 6558 Kolkata-Silchar will depart from Kolkata at morning 7:30 and will reach Silchar by 8:45 AM. After a 30 minutes halt, the airlines will again depart for Kolkata i.e. at 9:15 AM and land in Kolkata at 10:30 AM.

 

In a statement, William Boulter, Chief Commercial Officer of IndiGo said, “We have taken another step towards enhancing point-to-point connectivity for our passengers, by introducing Kolkata – Silchar route. The direct connectivity with Silchar, our 57th domestic destination, will offer ease of travel and attract a huge traffic for its natural beauty, rich and diversified culture giving tourists a unique experience.”

Indigo is country’s largest carrier as it had a 49 percent share in the domestic passenger market in the second quarter of 2019, according to DGCA report. Till now Spicejet was operating lone flight in Silchar-Guwahati route and two flights in Silchar-Kolkata route. While Air India is operating only in Silchar-Kolkata route.
