Investigation unveils the boy who hanged himself is from Silchar and not Bihar

Last night at around 9:00 PM a boy was found hanging in a room of a lodge located in Tarapur, Silchar. As per the lodge records the boy happened to be a resident of Muzzafarnagar, Bihar. But, after investigation, Tarapur Police found out the identity card that he had provided to book a room is fake and forged. Shanku Singha who said he is from Bihar and provided an Aadhar Card with Muzzafarnagar as his address is actually a resident of Malugram, Silchar.

IC Tarapur Police Station, Joseph Zate said that the boy was aware that lodges in Silchar do not provide rooms to locals and so he made a fake identity card. Police found out that he is the only son of his mother who works as a hawker and lives in Aryapatty, Silchar. Shanku’s father had left him and his mother and married another woman long back and since then, mother and son are living together.

His mother told Police officials that she feels this could be related to the affair Shanku was involved in. The Police informed that in her statement Shanku’s mother mentioned that Shanku called her on Sunday and told her that he is in love with a girl living in Agartala. Over a telephonic conversation, Shanku told his mother that he wants to get the girl in Silchar and marry her.

Police too found certain evidence which suggests that Shanku was either filming him committing suicide or was on a video conference with someone. In fact, the phone was strategically positioned in a manner so that it could capture everything with the front camera.

Tarapur Police, which made huge progress in investigating the case so far is looking for further details. Meanwhile, the body has been sent for postmortem following which it will be handed over to the family.
