After 37-years, certain areas in neighbouring state Nagaland witnessed a snowfall. Temperature is falling fast in Meghalaya as it is in the northern part of the country. Winter is here!
Untimely rain coupled with the breeze made people uncomfortable in Barak Valley. Yesterday, the residents of the valley prefered staying indoors as it got biting cold. Though the temperature read 16, 17 degrees on google it felt like its in high single-digit.
The vehicular traffic was low and so was the attendance in offices, banks and other private and government institutions. Many left early to reach home before it was dark while few warmed themselves standing near a bonfire.
The forecast shows the possibility of sunlight on Saturday which would mean a little warmer weather.
However, the cold waves in neighbouring States is likely to continue. Snowfall was witnessed after 37 years at Tokiye town and Luvishe village, under Aghunato sub-division, Zunheboto District, Nagaland.
