Jessica R Lalsim's voluntary retirement approval cancelled, to join back as Jt. Secretary Mini Secretariat, Barak Valley

A Governor’s notification issued on July 11, cancelled its own approval dated March 25, 2022. Jessica Remzarmoii Lalsim, had applied for Voluntary Retirement from Service which was approved by the concerned office in March has been withdrawn. Today, she has joined her new office in Silchar.

“In the interest of Public Service, this Dept’s earlier Notification No AAA.57/97/56 dated 25 March,2022 is hereby cancelled in respect of Smti Jessica Remzarmoii Lalsim, ACS (DR :1997) Joint Secretary to the Govt. of Assam, General Administration Department & Joint Secretary, Mini Secretariat, Barak Valley, Silchar with immediate effect,” states the order by the Governor Notification.

“The period of her absence from duty 01-04-2022 till date is being treated as on leave.” adds the order. Sources close to JR Lalsim informed that she did not submit any prayer for withdrawal of VRS but the government took the initiative to reinstate her in the administration. She has held multiple positions in the past before praying for VRS. Her role as the Settlement Officer, Cachar and Hailakandi was under the scanner as many individuals were arrested during her tenure, for their involvement in land scam.

She was also the DDC, Executive Officer of Silchar Municipality Board among others. Now, she will be Joint Secretary to Govt of Assam, General Administration and Joint Secretary Mini Secretariat, Barak Valley, Silchar.

If sources are to be believed, she had applied for VRS after her altercation with a “powerful MLA” from the ruling party. She found the words used against her were unparliamentary and derogatory and so, it is believed, that she took the decision.

“The Government of Assam is pleased to allow Smti. Jessica Remzarmoii Lalsim, ACS, (DR:1997) Joint Secretary to the Govt. of Assam, General Administration Department & Joint Secretary, Mini Secretariat, Barak Valley, Silchar to proceed on Voluntary Retirement from Govt. Service with effect from 31-03-2022 (A.N.) as per the provision of F.R.56 (c) of F.R.&S.Rs and Finance (Estt.-A) Departments O.M No.FEG.118/75/PU4 dated 12.09.1984 at her own request. However, she will be liable for payment of any outstanding liabilities if the Department receives any such record in future,” was the order issued approving her VRS which now stands cancelled.
