JK Baruah Match-fixing: ACA constitutes committee to probe allegations, Silchar DSA appeals for postponement of final

In the match between Jorhat and NF Railways, the latter conceded 38 runs in the last two overs intentionally to knock Silchar out of the prestigious JK Baruah Under 19 inter-district cricket tournament. 

After Barak Bulletin published the report, and General Secretary of the Silchar District Sports Association wrote to the Secretary of Assam Cricket Association, the state body has taken action.

In a letter to Bijendra Prasad Singh, General Secretary of Silchar DSA, Pritam Mahanta, CEO In-charge, ACA writes, “As per instruction of President, ACA, a hearing will take place on February 23, 2022 at 03:00 PM at ACA Stadium, Barsapara, Guwahati-18 in connection with the complaint.”

“Hence, you are requested to be present on the aforementioned day with relevant materials which is reliable in support of the alleged complaint, before the committee constituting of; President, ACA, Secretary, ACA & Treasurer, ACA. Appropriate notice shall also be issued to all concerned parties involved in the allegation raised,” added the letter.

Bijendra Prasad Singh thanked ACA for acting on the letter sent by Silchar DSA. However, in another letter to the ACA, Singh appealed for postponement of the final of JK Baruah trophy till the probe of the matter concludes.

“We have come to know that the Final Match is to be played on 20th & 21- February

2022 without taking a decision to our prayer in which case gross injustice is done to us,” states Silchar DSA’s letter.
