JNU Students' Union president Aishe Ghosh to visit Barak Valley
Research Scholar and President of Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union, Aishe Ghosh is scheduled to visit Barak Valley on March 19, 2020. Ghosh was recently admitted to All India Institute of Medical Sciences after suffering a head injury during a mob-attack at the University premises. She has been in the news since then.
However, the research scholar was unable to attend rallies or Public Meetings in several states as the administration refused to grant permission. Two State-run Universities in West Bengal refused to grant permission for her to address a Public meeting. In fact, the district administration in West Bengal disallowed her rally in Burdwan.
Kashyap Choudhury, State President, Students’ Federation of India (Assam State Committee) confirmed while speaking with Barak Bulletin that Ghosh is scheduled to visit Assam in March. He said, “On March 19, 2020, we are planning to organise a rally and a public meeting in Algapur – Hailakandi District. On March 20, 2020, we will organise a rally with her in Guwahati.”
Now it remains to be seen if the State government lets SFI organise Aishe Ghosh-rally in Hailakandi and Guwahati or if like the West Bengal Government denies the permission.
