Job Scam: Three UP residents report to Masimpur BSF HQ with fake appointment letters; FIR lodged

On December 21, three residents of Uttar Pradesh reported to Border Security Forces’ Silchar Headquarters located in Masimpur. They had appointment letters issued against their names. The appointment letters stated they must report to SHQ BSF, Silchar on or before January 7, 2022, “For joining the post of constable GD in Border Security Force and begin general training.”

Three of them have been identified as Chandan Singh, Amit Kumar and Sahil Paswan. All of them are residents of Gorakhpur district in Uttar Pradesh.

S Ravichandran, Assistant Commandant, BSF Silchar informed that after preliminary enquiry, it is revealed that they are victims of fake recruitment.

“According to the victims their ATM Cards have also been seized by the tout and money has been withdrawn on very frequent spells. The copy of offer of Appointment letters for the post of CT(GD) in BSP submitted by the aforesaid persons and the copy of their Aadhar Card, PAN Card, Two wheeler vehicle registration card, Voter ID, Certificate of Character, -Admit Card for recruitment, Education Certificates and written statement of the above persons are also enclosed herewith for your information and further necessary action, please,” wrote S Ravichandran in his complaint to the Police.

 

Speaking with Barak Bulletin’s correspondent, three of them said that they have paid Rs 21 lakh (10 lakh, 5.5 lakh, 5.5) to someone located in Siliguri. While initially they didn’t take the Siliguri man seriously. “He said pay only after the offer letter is sent at postal address. Eventually, the letter was shipped to our house and only after that we made the payment. We were in desperate need for jobs and so, we got tricked,” said one of the three.

Reacting to the complaint lodged by BSF, Arunachal Police Outpost’s IC, Pratap Senar has lodged a case. Speaking with Barak Bulletin, IC said that three of them have been arrested and will be forwarded to the court.
