Journalist Tilak Purkayastha's house robbed; his mother is in a state of shock
At around 3:30 AM today morning, a group of masked individuals broke the backdoor and entered the residence of journalist Biswa Kalyan (Tilak) Purkayastha located in Mazumder Lane, Das Colony, Silchar. The miscreants allegedly rushed to his room and stole away the laptop kept on the table and “some other important stuff”.
“My aged mother and sister-in-law were alone at home. We brothers are out of the home due to work. We are concerned about the security now after this incident. My mother is still in shock. I am thankful to God that they both are unharmed,” posted Tilak Purkayastha on his Facebook wall.
His mother, Uma Purkayastha and sister-in-law Santoshi Purkayastha were at home. “Uma Purkayastha heard a sound and woke up. She saw someone is breaking the door, she tried to block them but those masked miscreants entered forcibly. They threatened her not to scream and stole away all the important stuff including the laptop.”
Rangirkhari Police outpost was immediately informed about incident and Tilak Purkayastha informed that the officials visited his residence at around 6:00 AM in the morning to take stock of the situation.
Purakayastha said, “We believe someone who knew that the ladies are alone in the house dared to break open the door. Also, they must have visited our house before, otherwise, they would not know where the laptop is kept. We are deeply concerned about our security after this robbery.”
