July 10, 2022: Number of active cases in Cachar rises to 21; 10 samples tested positive for COVID
Like the other districts of Assam, Cachar has also started reporting a surge in the number of COVID cases. On Sunday, according to the data shared by the Cachar District Administration, 10 samples have tested positive for COVID19 in the district.
The administration informed that Three samples have tested positive on RTPCR and remaining seven samples on RAT. It is worth noting here that 26 samples were tested today and therefore the district is reporting higher positivity rate compared to the state. A professor with deep research in Micro Biology said, the high positivity rate is because there is hardly any random testing.
“People who are encountering symptoms are getting themselves tested. This high positivity rate is not a worrying sign. What we must keep an eye on is the hospitalisation rate. Also, we must continue with the genome sequencing to monitor the nature of the virus,” said the professor.
The Cachar District Administration has informed that there are no COVID +ve patients admitted to the hospital in the district. A total of 23 individuals have tested positive since July 1, 2022, and out of them two have recovered, leaving 21 active cases in the district.
According to the NHM Assam Bulletin, shared in the morning on July 10, the state has 1,541 active cases and is reporting 12.40% positivity rate.
