Kalain teacher Chiranjib Nath dies in road mishap
A 26-year-old man died in a road mishap on National Highway-6 at Brahman Gram, Kalain in Cachar district on Wednesday.
The deceased Chiranjit Nath was a resident of Bhairabpur (Nath Para) village at Kalain and was a teacher by profession.
According to sources, the accident took place around 9 am this morning. Chiranjit, who was riding on a motorcycle, had a head-on collision with an auto-rickshaw on National Highway-6 at Brahman Gram, Kalain, around 44km from Silchar. As a result, Chiranjit died on the spot.
The mishap brought vehicular movement to a standstill for some time with local residents gathering in large numbers on the spot. Several vehicles remained stranded on the road. Receiving the information, police reached the spot and sent the dead body to Silchar Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem. Both the vehicles (bike and auto-rickshaw) were brought to the local police outpost.
Locals blamed the reckless driving of the auto-rickshaw for the accident. They alleged that a number of accidents had happened on the road in the recent past owing to the carelessness of auto-rickshaw drivers. However, the authorities concerned did not take any step in this regard, locals said.
