Lailapur: Cachar Police detains 5 Myanmarese migrants who entered illegally
The Myanmarese residing in the Chin province of Myanmar have a free access to Mizoram through the Tiau River. The porous border is left open for the Myanmarese refugees who are troubled by the Country’s military. The Mizos consider them Raltlan (brothers) and they say that they belong to the same tribe and so, there is a free entry to the country. The same Mizos force Rohigyas and Bangladeshi migrants to go back.
Today, Cachar Police has managed to detain five Myanmarese migrants who entered India without proper documents. The Police informed that all of them are residents of Tiddin Village in Chin District of Myanmar. Police sources revealed that all of them were headed to New Delhi. However, they are being investigated for more details. The Police officials have not ruled out possibilities of Human Trafficking.
It is worth mentioning here that the Government of India’s Ministry of Home Affairs had reportedly asked the Govt. of Mizoram to seal the border and stop the migration. The Village Council President of Thingsai Village in Mizoram that broders Myanmar refused to accept any such diktat and said, “We we will stand by our brothers. They are being bombed by jet planes so, it is obvious that they will travel to Mizoram.” The Central Government, which treats Rohingyas as threat to national security, has left the door open for Chin refugees migrating from the same country.
