Land dispute escalated into gun violence in Nilambazar, four injured rushed to SMCH

A land dispute in Karimganj escalated into gun violence on Monday afternoon. At least four people were injured in the clash between the families of Khairul Islam and Arif Uddin. Nilambazar Police have sent the four wounded have been rushed to Silchar Medical College and Hospital for treatment and the ones involved in the firing were arrested.

The incident happened in the Balia area of Nilambazar in Karimganj. On Sunday, a case was registered with the Police by the family of Khairul Islam, regarding the said land in conflict. This enraged the other party and to avenge the police report, Arif Uddin and his aid allegedly attacked the first party.

While speaking with our correspondent, an injured family member said, “It was a guerilla attack. While some people were coming out of our (Khairul Islam) house, they (Arif Uddin) attacked us. It happened outside the house on the west side of the land. Arif, Khala, Hussain, and one other. Four of us were injured in the shooting”.

The four injured have been identified as Abdul Kalam, Hasan Ahmad, Mushan Ahmad and Shafia Begum. They are currently undergoing treatment in Silchar Medical College and Hospital, while Nilambazar Police is investigating the case.
