Large quantity of explosives seized from Kalain, One arrested in joint operation by Assam Rifles and Kalain Police
In a successful joint operation conducted by the Assam Rifles and Kalain Police, a substantial quantity of explosives was seized from Kalain, Cachar last night. Acting on a credible tip-off, the law enforcement teams apprehended a youth who was found to be in possession of these dangerous materials. The suspect, identified as Prasenjit Baishnab, a resident of Gumra, was driving a sumo vehicle with registration number AS 11 CC 9214.
The operation, carried out on the Kalain Masimpur road, yielded the discovery of 400 gelatin sticks and 400 detonators from the sumo vehicle. It was determined that Prasenjit had procured these explosives from Meghalaya. The swift action taken by the authorities in intercepting the suspect and seizing the dangerous materials prevented potential harm and averted a potential threat to public safety.
After the arrest, Prasenjit Baishnab was handed over to the Kalain Police by the Assam Rifles for further investigation and legal proceedings. Cachar SP Numal Mahatta confirmed the incident, expressing his satisfaction with the successful operation. He stated, “In a joint operation with Assam Rifles, Kalain police recovered and seized 400 gelatin sticks and 400 detonators from a vehicle bearing registration number AS 11 CC 9214 at Kalain Masimpur road. One person has been apprehended. Legal action has been initiated.”
