Local organisation threatens mass agitation if Arkatipur-Dayapur road isn't repaired before Puja

In a fervent bid to rectify the longstanding issue of the deteriorated Arkatipur-Dayapur road, members of the local organisation “Amra Kichu Kori” submitted a memorandum to the Executive Engineer of the Public Works Department (PWD) today. The memorandum, demanding prompt repairs to the dilapidated road, included a stern warning that a mass agitation would ensue if the necessary restoration work is not initiated prior to the forthcoming Durga Puja festival.

The Arkatipur-Dayapur road, situated under the Udharbond Assembly Constituency, has languished in a state of disrepair for the past five years, causing substantial inconvenience to the local populace, including students, who navigate its perilous path marked by enormous potholes that often simulate ponds.

In a glimmer of hope earlier this year, funds were allocated in January for the much-needed restoration work of the road. The contracting company, M/S Ram Krishna Traders, was awarded the contract for the much awaited project. However, in an unsettling turn of events, the company is yet to commence any renovation work, leaving the road’s condition to further deteriorate.

Frustrated by the indifference and lack of progress, members of the local NGO “Amra Kichu Kori” took it upon themselves to engage in a discussion with the Executive Engineer of the PWD. Their memorandum not only expressed their grave concerns about the road’s state but also urged immediate action to remedy the situation and fulfill the promise of road restoration.

As Durga Puja, one of the most significant festivals in this region, approaches, the pressure is mounting on the authorities to address this long-standing issue swiftly.
