Locals detain two armed terrorists in Cachar; 2 escapes
Today morning at around 7 O’clock, locals in Harinagar market area noticed four individuals behaving in a suspicious manner.
It is worth mentioning here that today, Barak Valley is observing 12 hours strike as a mark of protest against the barbaric killing of five Bengalis in Tinsukia.
Locals confronted four of them and asked why are they here and what are they carrying in their bags. They answered in a very arrogant manner which the locals did not like and they started gathering in large numbers.
After questioning repeatedly when the locals did not get any answers, they forced upon them and started searching their bags. Two of the four managed to run away from the spot while the other two were beaten by the locals till they lost their consciousness.
The Police was also informed and here is what SP Cachar, Rakesh Roushan had to say, “Today at about 11 am an information was received that public in Harinagar market under Joypur PS (Lakhipur Sub – Division), They informed us that they have apprehended two extremists with arms and badly beaten them. The SSB party and police representatives which was detailed for L/O duty in connection with 12 Hrs Barak bandh immediately reached the spot and recovered the two persons and found the following arms and ammunitions from their possession.”
1. 12 bore single barrel rifle
2. Three AK 56 rifle
3.One chinese LMG rifle
4.Two 5.56 mm rifle
5. One .22 pistol
6. 308 rds 5.56 mm ammunitions
7. 361 7.62 mm ammunitions
8. 1 chinese hand grenade and other items.
Roushan added in his statement, “Meanwhile myself and SDPO Lakhipur and other officers reached the place. The injured persons were saved from the agitated public and send for medical assistance to joypur PHC. Search operation is going on. Further necessary action is being taken.”
