Locals in Silchar's Tarapur help BSF, Police to confiscate 48KG ganja worth Rs 10 lakh, 3 arrested
Today morning, a crowd gathered near a store under the Tarapur Overbridge. There was a hue and cry that grabbed the attention of the people passing by.
As per sources in BSF, there were three-four officials in that area who visited the nearby temple. Suddenly they saw three individuals walking with giant suitcases. “One of them went to a store and requested the owner to keep the suitcases. The owner refused to do so and the local public got a little suspicious,” said a person present at the spot.
The three BSF officials also rushed to the spot and soon it was found that the five bags the three individuals were carrying consisted of more than 48 kilogram of Ganja. The BSF officials along with the local public caught them and then the Police were informed about the same.
Three individuals who were carrying the bags have been identified as Sikandar Kumar a 23-year-old resident of Khageria, Bihar, Dhamrendra Kuma (27) a resident of Jamni Chowk, Patna and Arman Sharia (28) resident of Selimpur, Patna.
After confiscating the bags, the Police counted about 36 packets of cannabis weighing around 48 kilograms. The market price of this consignment is estimated to be around Rs 10 lakh.
Why were three residents of Bihar roaming around with such a huge quantity of Ganja is something that calls for a detailed investigation. The public believe they were going to smuggle the consignment out by train and that is why they were loitering around the Tarapur area. It is worth mentioning here that a couple of years back, a racket consisting of many residents of Bihar was unearthed. That racket was carrying out snatching activities in broad daylight. Is this an extension of the same racket?
Questions are plenty, longing for an investigation that would help find some of the answers.
