Love Affair with Widow Turns Violent in Badarpur

A love affair turned violent in the Badarpur area when a third party objected to the relationship. Rippon Barbhuiya, a young man from Badarpur, allegedly had an illicit relationship with a widowed woman. Reports suggest that they had been together since her husband’s demise.

Despite facing objections from society, Rippon and the woman persisted in their relationship. However, their relationship took a grim turn on Friday around 10 am when a local identified as Aminul Hoque Mazumdar raised objections to their relationship. Rippon reportedly reacted strongly, using a sharp knife to attack Aminul. The altercation resulted in severe head injuries for Aminul, who was promptly rushed to Borkhola Hospital. Due to the severity of the case, he was later transferred to Silchar Medical College.

In the aftermath of the incident, the local community expressed distress, leading to an attack on the house of the widowed woman. Responding to the situation, Village Defense Party (VDP) workers and the police intervened to control the unrest. Despite their efforts, the woman’s house could not be saved.

The widowed woman revealed that their affair had lasted for five years, and now, due to the violent incident, her home lay in ruins. She expressed concern about where she would live, stating that if Rippon did not take her to his home, she would have nowhere to go. She went on to mention that she would contemplate ending her life if he did not provide shelter. However, the police assigned the responsibility of the woman to her father.

It is noteworthy that Rippon himself is married, yet he had maintained a five-year relationship with another woman. The societal objections did not deter him, but the recent incident has heightened tensions in the area. The police are actively involved in maintaining order and investigating the circumstances surrounding this complex situation.
