Maha Shivratri: Two devotees die during sacred trek on Bhuvan Hills
In an unfortunate state of affairs, two devotees trekking up the sacred Bhuvan Hills to celebrate Maha Shivratri have been found dead. In the morning, the news broke that one devotee identified as Ronjit Pal had lost his life during the trek.
According to fellow devotees, Saturday night, while ascending towards the peak, Pal suffered a cardiac arrest due to which he lost his life. However, the police recovered the dead body and sent it for postmortem at Silchar Medical College and Hospital.
In the afternoon, another dead body surfaced near the stream at the peak of the Bhuvan hills. Lakhipur Dewan Tea Estate resident Budhiman Ri was missing since February 17. His family members lodged a missing diary at the local police station mentioning that the young man had left for Bhuvan trekking to celebrate Maha Shivratri.
Today, at the stream near the temple, his dead body was spotted by fellow devotees. Local police at the hills were informed about the same. Till the time the report was filed, police were in the process of transferring the mortal remains to the foothills of the mountain.
It is worth mentioning here that thousands of devotees ascend to the peak of the Bhuvan Hills to pour milk on the Shivling present there. Devotees also offer wood apples as prasad to Lord Shiva on the sacred day.
