Maidservant allegedly poisons family, loots house; Retired SBI officer and his wife critical

In a shocking turn of affairs, retired SBI officer, Arabinda Bhadra and his wife were found lying unconscious in their room. Residents of Ambicapatty area, Bhadra and his wife are now admitted in Silchar Medical College and Hospital and their condition is said to be critical.

Today morning, neighbours of the Bhadras could not see them nor could they spot any activity in the house. A neighbour said, though the door was open neither Mr. Bhadra nor his wife walked out of the house. “Otherwise they are always active, but today there was complete silence. When we walked in, we found them both lying unconsciously on their bed,” he added.

The neighbours rushed the couple to Silchar Medical College and Hospital where a team of senior medical officials are now treating them. Sources close to the family say that their condition is critical. They feel the house help, who used to stay with the aged couple mixed poison with their dinner.

“All the wardrobes are open, it is clear that someone has stolen all their jewellery and cash. It is certain that only someone who knew what is kept where did this. The house help is missing since today morning and we believe she did the heinous act,” said another neighbour.

However, it is all speculations at this stage and the Police is yet to make an official statement.
