Major Drug Bust in Cachar, Cachar Police Seizes ₹9 Crore Worth of Yaba Tablets from a Scooty
In a significant crackdown on illegal drug trafficking, the Cachar Police conducted a successful operation in the Dholai Kathakal area early this morning (late night of July 27), resulting in the apprehension of an individual in possession of a large quantity of Yaba tablets.
Based on credible intelligence, the special operation led to the arrest of Abdul Alim, aged 42, son of the late Mosadar Ali Laskar from the village of Saptagram under the Dholai Police Station. Authorities seized 30,000 Yaba tablets from his possession, along with a Scooty bearing the registration number AS-11Y-4890, which was reportedly used for transportation of the narcotic substance.
The estimated market value of the seized consignment is a staggering ₹9 crore, highlighting the scale and severity of the illegal drug trade in the region.
Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma commended the team’s efforts, stating, “Kudos to Assam Police for their continued efforts for a #DrugFreeAssam”. Investigations are ongoing to uncover further links and networks associated with the suspect.
