Major Drug Bust in Silchar: Cachar Police and CRPF Collaborate to Seize 20,000 YABA Tablets Worth Rs 4 Crore
In a major operation against the transportation of illegal drugs, the Cachar Police, in collaboration with B/147 BN CRPF, successfully apprehended two individuals and seized a massive haul of 20,000 YABA tablets. The operation, led by Cachar Superintendent of Police Numal Mahatta, took place in Srikona, Silchar.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Samsuddin Borbhuyan, aged 30, and Samim Ahmed Borbhuyan, also 30 years old, both residents of Rajnagar, Manikpur, Silchar. The Cachar Police have launched a thorough investigation into the matter to unravel the network involved in the illegal drug trade.
YABA, short for “Ya Ba Phi,” is a potent and highly addictive methamphetamine-based drug that has gained notoriety in the region. Its composition typically includes a combination of methamphetamine and caffeine, making it a dangerous substance with severe health implications for its users.
The successful operation highlights the relentless efforts of Cachar Police under the leadership of SP Numal Mahatta in curbing the illegal transportation of contraband. The law enforcement agencies have been actively engaged in identifying and dismantling networks involved in the drug trade, aiming to maintain law and order in the region.
Cachar SP Numal Mahatta, stated, “The estimated market value of the seized contraband is around Rs 4 crore, indicating the significant impact of our operation on the illicit drug trade in the region. We will continue to intensify our efforts to eradicate this menace and ensure the safety of our community.”
