
Man arrested with automatic pistol from Cachar's Hmarkhawlien in joint operation by 29 Assam Rifles and Lakhipur Police
On Monday morning, Laljarlien Hmar, a 55-year-old man, was arrested in a joint operation by the 29 Assam Rifles and Lakhipur Police from the Fulertal Markulin area, located under Lakhipur Police Station. The arrest was made following a tip-off, and an automatic pistol was recovered from him. Laljarlien Hmar, who hails from Fulertal Hill Punji, is said to have been the pastor of a Church in Hmarkhawlien area.
After his arrest, Laljarlien Hmar was interrogated by 29 Assam Rifles officers throughout the day, and later, he was taken to Lakhipur Police Station at night. However, the police have not revealed any information regarding his involvement with any militant organisation.
