Man commits suicide in Udharbond village

A 30-year-old man reportedly committed suicide at Dumurghat under Udharbond constituency in Cachar district on Sunday night.

The deceased, Kabul Hossain Laskar, was the son of Fajai Miya Laskar. On Monday, a first information report was lodged by Fajai with Udharbond police station regarding the incident.

In the statement, Fajai said Kabul went to his room on Sunday night after having his dinner. When he did not open the door of his room on Monday morning, his family members knocked on the door and called him a number of times, but there was no response.

Thereafter, they peeped in through a gap in the wall (made of bamboo) after which the incident came to light. They saw Kabul hanging from the ceiling with a lungi tied up with his neck. The matter was immediately informed to the police following which a team of officials from Udharbond police station reached the spot and took the dead body to the police station.

The body was thereafter sent to Silchar Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem.
