Man died in Premtala is a resident of Ambicapatty; "Inquest report doesn't indicate any visible injuries," Police contradicts murder claims

Silchar was shocked as reports surfaced that a mentally unstable man was brutally murdered at the heart of the town in Premtala. An eyewitness stated that he had seen two men assaulting the mentally unstable man. The Cachar Police, on the other hand, issued a press statement mentioning that the dead body of an unidentified man has been recovered.

As it turns out, the dead body has been identified. The man who died has been identified as Bhakt Robidas, aged 24 years. He is son of late Raju Robidas of Ambicapatty, College road.

The Police sources informed that the man who died on the streets in Premtala is a resident of Silchar’s Ambicapatty area. “We have a claimant and now we are in the process of verifying the relationship,” said a senior officer in Cachar Police. “Tomorrow, the claimant will meet OC Silchar Sadar, following satisfactory verification, the body will be handed over,” the officer added.

Superintendent of Police, Cachar, Ramandeep Kaur said, “Inquest report doesn’t indicate any visible injuries,” contradicting the eyewitness’ claims that the man was beaten to death. Post mortem report is still awaited as so, the Police are unable to confirm the cause of death. However, Cachar SP did not hesitate in ruling out “Lynching” allegations.
