Man in Cachar-Quarantine centre jumps from first floor; attempt to suicide or escape-plan, administration unsure
A young boy placed under quarantine in Darul Uloom Madrassa located in Banskandi jumped from the first floor last night. The administration immediately consulted the doctors and they said he has not incurred any critical injury.
he along with 65 other residents of Barak Valley returned to Cachar on June 19. According to the standard operating procedure all of them were placed under quarantine and their swab samples were sent to Silchar Medical College and Hospital to test if any of them are unknowingly carrying the COVID 19 virus.
This particular boy, says ADC Sumit Sattavan has been a troublemaker from day 1. The ADC informed that the boy misbehaved with the staff there, “It happens in other quarantine centres too, but he was too far over the line,” informed Sattavan. He added that they did not take any action considering that the boy travelled all the way and yet he had to stay away from his family.
However, yesterday he just jumped from the first floor. “We are not sure if he attempted a suicide of jumped to escape from the quarantine centre. But we have informed the family and working to the best of our capability to send him home as soon as possible,” informed the additional deputy commissioner.
He added, the staff there suspect that he might be suffering from some sort of depression. The administration is keeping a close eye on the boy with his family in the loop.
It is worth mentioning here that so far, 12,766 people have returned to Cachar from outside Northeast.
