Man murders sister in law and her one month son in Hailakandi

In Hailakandi-Lala’s Choto Munsicherra area mother and one month old son was brutally murdered today afternoon.

In the shocking and horrible incident 35 years old Rita Roy and her one month old son Mona Roy was murdered by Rita’s brother in law. According to sources close to the development, in absence of Rita’s husband Moyna Roy, Manju surprisingly entered the house and murdered both mother and son. Rita was staying at her Choto Munsicherra residence with her mother in law and two sons, one is 14 year old schoolgoer and other one is one year old deceased Mona. Last evening Rita’s mother in law went out of the village leaving Rita alone with her two children. Her husband Moyna Roy is out of station due to some professional commitments Local residents suspect that Manju Roy attempted to rape his sister in law and when she resisted he murdered both Rita and her one year old. He stabbed them to death and then ran away to a jungle from where police arrested him. Police refused to comment on rape charges and said investigation is going on and its not the right time to speculate.

A team of police force under Officer in charge of Lala Police station Monirul Islam and Additional SP Jagadish Das immediately reached the spot and sent both the bodies to SK Roy Civil Hospital for post mortem. Police sources informed us that the post mortem will happen tomorrow morning.

Meanwhile Lala police after running a search operation in Choto Munsicherra area arrested accused Manju Roy. The local residents were angry at the incident and the dual murder has created a lot of unrest in the locality, before police took Manju in custody the he was beaten by local public. He is now being treated in a local hospital.
