Many Trains Including Silchar-Guwahati Express Cancelled: Informs NF Railway
In the wake of the Remal Cyclone, severe rainfall has wreaked havoc across Assam, with the Barak Valley being completely submerged. This disaster has displaced numerous families and caused extensive damage to infrastructure, including land routes. The waterlogging of railway connections has further compounded the disruption.
Once again, the Silchar-Guwahati Express train faces cancellation, with NFR informing that several trains have been cancelled or partially cancelled. The details are as follows:
Cancellation of trains commencing journey on June 1, 2024:
– Train no. 15626 (Agartala – Deoghar) Express
Cancellation of trains commencing journey on June 2, 2024:
– Train no. 15616 (Silchar – Guwahati) Express
– Train no. 05659 (Silchar – Sribar) Passenger
– Train no. 05567 (Silchar – Bhairabi) Passenger
– Train no. 05687 (Dullabcherra – Silchar) Passenger
– Train no. 15618 (Dullabcherra – Guwahati) Express
Cancellation of trains commencing journey on June 3, 2024:
– Train no. 15625 (Deoghar – Agartala) Express
– Train no. 15615 (Guwahati – Silchar) Express
– Train no. 05660 (Sribar – Silchar) Passenger
– Train no. 05568 (Bhairabi – Silchar) Passenger
Partial cancellation of trains:
– Train no. 13174 (Agartala – Sealdah) Kanchanjunga Express commencing journey on June 1, 2024, will be short originated from Lumding and will remain cancelled between Agartala and Lumding.
Due to operational reasons, train no. 07904/07905 (Makum Jn. – Dangari – Makum Jn.) DEMU will remain cancelled from June 1 to June 30, 2024.
The entire month of May saw several train cancellations, first due to track repair works and now due to waterlogging. The Barak Valley region is almost always cut off from the wider world following natural calamities. This recurring issue has caused significant inconvenience to the residents.
How long must the Barak Valley face such issues? There should be some permanent solution to this problem. In the meantime, people planning to travel are advised to plan their journeys accordingly.
