Massive Drug Haul: Cachar Police Foils Smuggling Attempt at Raj Gobindpur
Yet another successful anti-narcotics operation by Cachar Police has led to the seizure of a massive consignment of illegal drugs along the Assam-Mizoram border. In a special raid conducted in the early hours of Tuesday, police discovered a huge stash of suspected YABA tablets hidden in a house at Raj Gobindpur, Baga. The operation has once again exposed the rampant drug smuggling network operating in the region.
Acting on credible intelligence, a team from Dholai Police Station launched a raid at the residence of Md. Dil Bahar, a 36-year-old man from Raj Gobindpur, under Cachar district. Upon searching the house, officers discovered a total of 66,000 suspected YABA tablets cleverly concealed inside the false ceiling. The narcotics, suspected to have been smuggled from Aizawl, Mizoram, were seized following due legal procedures in the presence of independent witnesses.
The seized drugs, worth approximately ₹20 crore in the black market, were tested using drug detection kits (DDK), which confirmed their authenticity. The operation was part of an ongoing crackdown on the illegal transportation of psychotropic substances along the inter-state border. However, police have not yet confirmed if more individuals were involved in the smuggling network or if the accused had any prior records.
Sharing a note on the incident, Cachar Police stated, “Following a credible intelligence input, our team conducted a swift and well-coordinated operation, preventing a significant quantity of narcotics from reaching the streets. The necessary legal proceedings are underway.”
With this successful bust, Cachar Police has once again struck a major blow in Assam Police’s relentless war against drugs. The department continues its unwavering efforts to dismantle the drug supply chains operating in the region, ensuring that such harmful substances do not reach the youth of the state.
