Massive fire burns a house, 2 vehicles in Silchar; Thieves used the opportunity to rob a nearby showroom

A massive fire in Silchar’s Chirukandi area burnt a house to ashes. The house was divided into four units which provided shelter to four different families. And now, all of them are homeless. Along with the house, the devastating fire gutted two vehicles also. Both small lorries (Magic) were parked right outside the house.

While the source of fire is yet to be determined, the police have informed us that no human injuries were sustained due to the fire. “The fire was reported at around 5:30 in the evening and three engines were deployed by the fire station to bring the flames under control,” informs Kamalesh Singh, officer-in-charge of Tarapur Police outpost.

While everybody was busy extinguishing the devastating fire, a group of miscreants seized the opportunity to rob an automobile showroom located nearby, “As the flames rose high, the owner of the showroom started removing important stuff in order to save them from the fire. We have heard that a lot of expensive materials got stolen from his showroom. However, we are yet to receive an official complaint from them,” adds Singh.
