
May 25 Covid Update: 7 declared dead in SMCH; 608 positive in Cachar, slight drop in Barak Valley
With 296 patients in the Covid ward of Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH), the doctors are desperately waiting for an expansion. Out of them, 88 are in ICU and 23 under ventilator support, and 162 on Oxygen support. 53 patients took admission on Tuesday while 32 got discharged.
Vice-principal of Silchar Medical College and Hospital, Dr. Bhaskar Gupta informed that seven individuals were declared dead in the last 24 hours ending at 5:00 pm on May 25.
Muzibur Rahman Majumdar (50) Ganirgram, Katigorah, Cachar was admitted on May 24 and he died on the same day at 6:10 pm. Surajit Deb (70), Patherkandi, Karimganj was also admitted on May 24 and he too succumbed on the same day at 6:10 pm. A resident of Padma Nagar in Bilpar, Silchar, Sudhanshu Chanda (81) was admitted on May 24 and he died on the same day at 11:40 pm.
Rajarshi Bhattacharjee (35) of Latu Karimganj was admitted on May 25 and he died on the same day at 10:20 am. Bijoy Rakshit (72) of Itkhola, Silchar was admitted in the early hours of May 25 but he could only survive till 12:30 pm. Nazim Uddin Barbhuiya (55) was admitted on May 24 and he was declared dead the next day at 2:20 pm.
Abdul Noor Chaudhury (60) of Katlicherra, Hailakandi was admitted on May 25 and he died on the same day at 2:12 pm.
Cachar district health department informed that 602 individuals have tested positive on Tuesday taking the number of active cases to 2665. 2167 are in home isolation while the rest are admitted to various Covid Hospital and Covid Care Centres.
On May 25, in Karimganj district, 2,827 swab samples were collected and out of them, 111 tested positive. The district has 736 Covid cases.
In Hailakandi district, 112 individuals have tested positive taking the number of active cases to 734.
