Meet Biprajit Bhowmik, an aspiring entrepreneur from Silchar and the brain behind 'MedOnline'
With hectic lifestyle taking its toll on people day-by-day, medicines have become almost an unavoidable necessity in our daily life. However, managing time and finding all medicines at one place are some of the problems faced by us on a regular basis. Thankfully, not anymore!
In a unique initiative to make medicine purchase a completely hassle-free job, an aspiring entrepreneur from Silchar – Biprajit Bhowmik has started a pharmaceutical startup “MedOnline” that provides home delivery of medicines. The service, which covers all the municipal areas in Silchar, aims to bridge the gap between buyers and medicines at minimum effort possible.
In an exclusive conversation with Barak Bulletin, Biprajit speaks about his startup and other related aspects. Excerpts:
BB – What prompted you to start MedOnline? How has been the response so far?
Biprajit – Well, the idea to come up with MedOnline started with my own troublesome experiences of buying medicines from medical stores. Countless times, I went from one pharmacy to another to get different medicines and had to often return back with one or two medicines unavailable.
Those experiences vigorously impelled me to start something in my hometown which could address the problem and I planned to start something like home delivery of medicines. Eventually, I did some research about the medicine industry, contacted professionals to set up the whole thing and that’s how MedOnline was born.
I have been discussing about the venture with many and received positive and encouraging feedback. Altogether, the response has been superb. I am optimistic that people will really like the service and give us an opportunity to serve them.
BB – Tell us about the procedure of ordering medicines from MedOnline.
Biprajit – The procedure of ordering medicines from MedOnline is very simple. A person just needs to download the MedOnline application from Google Play store and register in it. The person has to upload the prescription and the job is done. We will contact him/her, check the medicines needed and get the order confirmed. The delivery of medicines is absolutely free of cost.
For those unable to download the app due to various reasons, they can call us on our contact number and we will get them registered with MedOnline.
BB – Medicine stores are available in every nook and corner of Silchar. What do you think is the USP of your company that customers will go for ordering medicines from you?
Biprajit – Well, there are many aspects that set MedOnline apart from the general medical stores.
In case of MedOnline, medicines reach customers, whereas in other cases, customers have to reach to medicines. With us, people get their medicines right at their doorstep without paying any money for the delivery. This also saves their valuable time.
Apart from that, we are giving some additional benefits to customers like JOINING BONUS, LIFETIME REFERRAL BONUS and CASHBACK, unlike general medical stores. The benefits will be credited in the customers’ MedOnline Wallet and they will be able to use it for purchasing medicines from time to time.
BB – Are medicines prescribed by doctors outside Silchar/Assam available with MedOnline? Are there any extra charges if one orders medicines which are usually not available in Silchar?
Biprajit – Yes, medicines prescribed by doctors anywhere across the country are available with MedOnline. We aim to provide maximum comfort to our customers and will always ensure medicines prescribed by doctors outside Silchar or anywhere in India are available with us.
No, there are no extra charges for medicines which are usually not available in Silchar. It may take some time for the delivery, if any medicine is not available at that particular time, but no extra charges will be levied.
BB – What are your expectations from the people of Silchar regarding MedOnline? Where do you see it in next three years?
Biprajit – MedOnline believes in providing quality services at minimum prices possible.
The family of MedOnline expects that the people of Silchar will shower their love and blessings and give us the opportunity of serving them.
In the next three years, I am hopeful that we will able to serve people across Assam.
