Mini Secretariat in Barak Valley: Bhoomi Pujan near ITI in Srikona, construction to start soon
The office of the deputy commissioner of Cachar issued notice inviting people to attend the Bhoomi Pujan event to be organised on August 20, 2019, at 11:00 AM. The notice stated that this Bhoomi Pujan event has been organised in connection with the construction of Mini Secretariat. This official notice from the district administration comes as a massive delight for the people of Barak Valley desperately waiting for the Mini Secretariat to be built in Silchar.
The event will take place in Srikona near the ITI which is where the Mini Secretariat will be built. The administration has also arranged for shuttle bus services for people to reach the venue easily. The buses will ply between Dak Bungalow campus and Srikona ITI from 8:00 AM in the morning.
There is a public meeting scheduled to take place after the Bhoomi Pujan and dignitaries are expected to address the gathering.
On March 3, 2019, chief minister of Assam, Sarbananda Sonowal had unveiled the foundation stone of the Mini-Secretariat in Police Parade ground. Back then he had said that the development of Barak Valley is important to him and the Assam Government.
This news of Bhoomi Pujan has already excited the people of Barak Valley. An industrialist said that the Mini Secretariat will bring employment opportunities for the people, “Not only in terms of job in the secretariat, an establishment like this opens up opportunities for small businesses like tea stalls and food joints. You need a huge man-power to function an establishment like this and that is good news for the people of Barak Valley,” he said.
