Miscreants snatch Rs 2.30 lakh from a man in Silchar; "Had just withdrawn from the bank"

Malugram resident Somnath Das went to the New Silchar Branch of State Bank of India to withdraw money. After waiting for a while in the queue, he had withdrawn Rs 2,30,000 (two lakh thirty thousand).

From the New Silchar branch, Das went to Samshan Road on his bike to drop his friend. “At around 11:30 am, I dropped my friend near the busy Durga Mandap in Samshan Road and within seconds two individuals riding on a bike snatched the bag with cash and rushed away,” informed Somnath Das.

He chased the miscreants on his bike, “They were speeding away, I could follow them till Subhash Nagar but then they disappeared,” Das added.

Das has lodged an FIR at Rangirkhari Police Station and pleaded the officials to investigate the matter and help him recover the cash. In the FIR, he mentioned that he was carrying the cash in a shopping bag which was kept on his right shoulder.

The incident at 11:30 am in the morning has shocked the locals. The miscreants are no longer scared of getting caught. Such incidents are happening in every nook and corner of Silchar.
