Missing Cachar College student's dead body floats in the river; Had drowned while taking a bath

Today morning, the SDRF called off the search and rescue operation launched to find 17-year-old Biprojit Deb. Residents of Siyaltek village in Katigorah spotted a floating body in the morning, and the Circle Officer, Naba Kumar Saikia, along with his team rushed to the spot to recover the dead body. It has been officially identified as the dead body of missing Biprojit Deb. Police officials have sent the dead body to Silchar Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem.

Biprojit Deb had gone to take a bath in the river on Friday and got dragged to the middle of the Barak. Since then, he was missing in the depth of the river.

According to police officials, Biprojit didn’t know how to swim and had gone to the river along with his relatives to have a bath. Speaking to reporters, a relative of Biprojit said that he came to his relative’s house for attending a wedding as his exams recently concluded. On Friday, he was celebrating the second day of the wedding, and Biprojit went for bathing in the river along with his aunts and cousins. Unfortunately, he got drowned in the river despite not knowing how to swim. Biprojit has a mother and sister at home.

Biprojit is a resident of Rangpur and a 2nd-year student of Cachar College. The police officials have urged people to be cautious while going to the river or any water body, especially if they don’t know how to swim. They have also advised people not to go for a bath in the river during the monsoon season when the water levels are high and currents are strong.
