Mizo miscreants detonate bomb in Hailakandi; One IR battalion personnel arrested
The relationship between Assam and Mizoram continue to head south. In both Cachar and Hailakandi, the administration has put it on record that the Mizos are building roads and bridges illegally within the jurisdiction of Assam. However, the Mizoram government as well as the Centre remain indifferent. And now fresh tension erupts in Hailakandi following an explosion.
In the dark hours, at around 1:45 am it was reported that there was a high explosive blast using detonating cord near Baicherra BOP under Ramnathpur PS, done by some Mizo miscreants.
“On preliminary investigation, it seems that some Mizo miscreants and others entered and carried out this blast using high explosives in the close vicinity of Assam Police Outpost,” informed Superintendent of Police, Hailakandi, Gaurav Upadhyay.
Speaking with Barak Bulletin, he further added, “During the investigation one Mizo person named Laldintwanga, aged 23 years, resident of Bhairabi, Kolasib district who was suspiciously moving near the site was found and was apprehended. During interrogation he revealed to be a Mizo IRBN Personnel.”
He was arrested and forwarded to Judicial custody under case vide Ramnathpur PS case no 192/21 u/s 120(B)/447/427 IPC r/w Sec 4 of PDPP Act r/w Section 3 of E.S. Act, that has been registered with reference to the incident and whose investigation is underway.
Sources in Dispur informed that senior officials in Government of Assam have raised the concern with their counterparts in Mizoram and Delhi. Following which, the Mizos have retreated from the vicinity. They have also transferred the construction materials and the team deployed. RCC Culvert construction was commissioned by the Mizos in an area which the Hailakandi administration claimed to be within the jurisdiction of Government of Assam.
