More than two children: Hailakandi DC removes GP president from her position

Lalacherra Vernerpur Gaon Panchayat Saraswati Rabidas has been removed from her post. A notice sent by DC Hailakandi Megha Nidhi Dahal stated that she flouted the given rule that president, vice president, or member of Zila Parsiahd cannot have more than two children.

The notice sent on June 11 read, “Whereas the Assam Panchayat Constitution Amendment rules 2018 rule 62 requires that the president Vice-President or member of Zila Parishad, Anchalik Panchayat and Gaon Panchayat should not have more than two living children from a single or multiple partner it has been established that Shrimati Saraswati Ravi Das wife of Ranjit Ravidas president Lala 13 14 Gaon Panchayat now has more than two children,”

As per the letter, Vernerpur GP President Saraswati Rabidas gave birth to a son on October 2, 2019,  “The Panchayat and Rural Development Department Assam has instructed to take necessary action for removal of Saraswati Ravidas wife of Ranjit Ravidas from the presidentship of Lalacherra – Vernerpur Gaon Panchayat.”

The Hailkandi DC’s order removing Saraswati Rabidas from the presidentship of her Gaon Panchayat is effective immediately.
