Multiple FIRs at Sadar Police Station, exemplary action demanded against Srinkhal Chaliya & Co. within 48 hrs

The divide between the Assamese and Bengalis reached a new level when some extremist Assamese leaders warned the Bengalis and other non-Assamese people to be aware or get killed.

Groups by the name Lachit Sena and Ahomiya Yuva Mandal came under the radar of the controversy when they openly showed their protest against the non-Assamese speaking community of Assam and especially Bengali. On this context, Bengali Hindu Yuva Shakti, an umbrella organization of various right wing student organizations called in for a press conference wherein they strongly criticized the comments made by the Assamese leaders and demanded strict actions against them.

Pallabita Sharma speaking on behalf of the organization says, “Srinkhal Chaliya is a nobody and is trying to do this entire Anti-Bengali movement to cleanse his own name from the Dumper Controversy. The Bengalis have greatly contributed to the development of buissness and culture in the State and have even contributed to the uplifment of Assamese literature, some pests in the society are trying to cause faultline and bring about disturbance in peace, and we being at the receiving end of it demand strict action by the authorities. We demand that the culprit should be brought under arrest in 48 hours or we will get on roads to stage a mega protest.” They are under process of filing a FIR at the Silchar Sadar police station and will be done with the technicalities soon.

Activist and Student Leader, Subhashish Choudhury states ”Through the entire incident of Mizoram border dispute, no real actions have been taken on the intruders and those who caused harm. The water resources department of this valley receives staff deputation from the upper Assam but no locals are given job, and this trend is being followed in almost all sectors. The elected representatives from this valley have been totally silent on this dirty racial discrimination which is yet again takin an extreme form. We need them to take the strongest stand and speak up for the wrong happening to us.”

OC of Silchar Sadar informs us that two FIRs have been already logged in this particular case while two more await to be filed tomorrow. It only now is on the administration and the ruling class to take appropriate steps to contain this situation of racial discrimination and enmity or it is sure to take a very drastic and dramatic turn in the forthcoming future.
