Murder of a cow causes tension near NIT; Sniffer dogs deployed
Elections are knocking at the door and the administration is in a hyperactive mode as a little lapse can cause major damage. Today, in Jugipara area located next to Fakirtilla near NIT Silchar, a cow was found dead lying on the field.
The locals feel the cow has been stabbed to death as there are several cut marks on the animal’s body and tail. Locals, irked by the inhuman act, started gathering in large numbers. The Police did not take any chance as this sensitive issue could cause larger damage to law and order. Senior officials from Sadar Thana including the OC himself rushed to the spot and took stock of the situation.
A local said a cow of a resident of Jugipara was missing since last two days and today it was found dead on the field. “This is happening just a few days after the heinous incident in Fakirtilla where miscreants tried to steal a cow by forcing it inside a Maruti 800 car. We all are very tensed as this is happening in an area with Hindu majority,” said the local resident.
The gathered locals demanded sniffer dogs to investigate the matter and the OC of Silchar Sadar decided to agree with the locals and sniffer dogs were deployed to investigate the matter. The police also spoke to a few locals to understand the matter in details. However, no arrests were made as police are yet to identify the culprit.
