Mysterious dead-body in Shillongpatty; mother registers case against boyfriend

Yesterday morning, residents of Shillongpatty and Ullaskar Dutta Sarani saw a female body hanging next to the Shanni temple opposite old Nahaaz restaurant in Silchar. While the body remained unclaimed for the most of the day, in the evening, Police managed to get in touch with the deceased’s mother Raisa Begum who claimed the body. The mother identified her daughter as Rushma Begam, resident of Bagpur area in Sonai constituency.

“After speaking to the deceased’s mother, we sent the body for post-mortem following which it was handed over to the family,” informed Investigating Officer, Bidhan Dhar. Police sources revealed that, Rushma’s mother has registered a case against Zakir Uddin (name changed) accusing him of murdering her daughter. She mentioned in her statement that, Rushma was having an affair with Kabir and she left their residence on December 24, after receiving his call.

“Yes, it is true that she has lodged an F.I.R against a boy allegedly her boyfriend accusing him of murder. But, we have just started the investigation and therefore I won’t be able to make a comment on the cause of the death,” said Investigating Officer of the murder case, Haripada Dey.

On the same day another dead body was found next to Inter State Bus Terminus in Ramnagar, Silchar. That body also remained unidentified for a long time, but later Police identified him as Bashudeb Baishnab, son of Shashikanta Baishnab – resident of Ashram Road Silchar. A truck went missing since last Monday and Baishnab was the handyman of that very truck itself. While the truck is still missing, Baishnab’s body was recovered yesterday and Police is suspecting involvement of a truck-robbery racket.

Two murders in a day has shocked the people of Barak Valley, and in both the cases the perpetrators exhibited extreme sense of fearlessness. Ullaskar Dutta Sarani is the heart of Silchar and to tie a dead body with a cable next to the main road is probably the last thing one can ever dare. Similarly, the location where Baishnab’s body was found is parking spot for trucks and more than 50 Lorries are always stationed with the handyman and drivers inside.
