"Nature and Environment Conservation" Takes Center Stage at Medical Representatives' Durga Puja in Silchar
In a significant milestone, the All Medical Sales People Durga Puja, situated on Hailakandi Road in Silchar, is celebrating its 15th consecutive year of vibrant festivities. To mark this special occasion, the organizers have chosen a theme that carries immense importance – “Nature and Environment Conservation.”
The Durga Puja, a popular Hindu festival celebrated with great enthusiasm across India, is a time when communities come together to revel in cultural, religious, and social celebrations. It traditionally centers around the worship of Goddess Durga, a symbol of strength and female power. However, in recent years, many Durga Puja committees have chosen to incorporate themes of social significance into their celebrations, focusing on important issues affecting society.
The decision by the All Medical Sales People Durga Puja to adopt “Nature and Environment Conservation” as its theme for the 15th year is a commendable step towards raising awareness about environmental issues and the urgent need for conservation. This choice is particularly pertinent in today’s world, where climate change and environmental degradation pose significant threats to our planet and future generations.
The inaugural ceremony was held in the presence of distinguished on Friday. The puja was officially inaugurated by Padmasree Ravi Kannan, a renowned oncologist, and Professor Parthankar Choudhury, Dean of the Deaprtment of Ecology & Environmental Science at Assam University, Silchar. Their presence underscored the gravity and relevance of the theme chosen by the puja committee.
Following the inaugural ceremony, a brief program was organized to felicitate Padmasree Ravi Kannan and Professor Choudhury. In his speech, Professor Choudhury expressed his delight at the puja committee’s decision to focus on environmental awareness. He hoped that this theme would contribute to the strengthening of the public’s commitment to environmental conservation.
Padma Shri Ravi Kannan, in his address, urged the committee members to sustain the practice of environmental conservation throughout the year through various green activities.
As part of their environmental awareness efforts, a short documentary has been prepared to emphasize the need for protecting the ambient environment of Silchar and its adjoining areas. This documentary will be displayed during all four days of the Durga Puja, providing visitors with valuable insights into the importance of nature and environment conservation.
The Durga Puja committee has extended an open invitation to everyone to visit their premises and partake in the celebrations. By adopting the theme of “Nature and Environment Conservation,” this puja seeks to not only celebrate cultural and religious traditions but also to emphasize the crucial role that individuals and communities must play in preserving our environment for future generations.
