NF Railways extends Kolkata Festive special train; To depart from Silchar every Thursday

During the festival season, especially Durga Puja a significant number of residents return to their homes in Barak Valley from the rest of the country. After the Puja is over, they return to their respective place of work. To clear this rush of people moving out of Barak Valley, NF Railways had rolled out a festive special Silchar – Kolkata train.

The train departing from Silchar on Thursday and from Kolkata on Friday was earlier notified up to November 3 and 4 respectively.

However, the Office of the Principal Chief Operations Manager, NF Rail, has issued internal order notifying the continuation of 05639/05640 Silchar – Kolkata – Silchar Festival Special train.

The order states, “In order to clear extra rush, it has been decided to continue the running of 05639/05640 Silchar – Kolkata – Silchar Festival Special train with the existing stoppages, timings, composition, maintenance and days of service.”

The train will now leave Silchar Railway Station every Thursday and from Kolkata, it will depart for Silchar every Friday. The service to continue for 10 trips till January 12 and 13 respectively unless further extended by the concerned authorities.
